As both a Mechanical Engineer and a passionate tutor, I’ve experienced firsthand the challenges that arise from limited access to digital fabrication services—especially when students need them most. Having worked extensively in Polytechnics and universities, I understand the demanding nature of creative studies. This insight led me to recognize the urgent need for a digital fabrication service that could cater specifically to the needs of imaginative students.

During my time working with students, I saw how they often struggled to find timely solutions for their projects. Deadlines were missed because services were overbooked, or the costs were prohibitive. I knew there had to be a better way.

Driven by the desire to solve this problem, I decided to take action. I secured funding and purchased a laser cutter, even before having a finalized location for it. In July 2017, Naz-Wood was born.

After six successful years of serving the creative community in New Zealand, we are excited to announce that in July 2024, we’ve relocated to South Africa, continuing the same high level of service and innovation we offered in New Zealand. Our goal is to bring the same dedication to affordable, approachable, and relevant digital fabrication services to South African students, individuals, and businesses.
